Job Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, in compliance with accounting standards and government regulations.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development, monitoring, and management of budgets for various projects and departments. Provide insights into budget variances and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions and reconciling accounts.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
- Audit Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audit processes, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- VAT Compliance: Ensure compliance with Value Added Tax (VAT) regulations, including proper recording and reporting of VAT transactions.
- Financial Policies and Procedures: Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure sound financial management practices.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, promoting their professional development.
- Treasury Management: Assist in managing cash flow, monitoring banking activities, and ensuring efficient fund utilization.
- Financial Software: Utilize financial software systems effectively for recording transactions, generating reports, and data analysis.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Procurement, and Project Management, to ensure accurate financial data exchange and alignment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial reporting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of government financial regulations and policies is advantageous.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks.
