Job Description:
We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our culinary team in Malta. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of pastry production, including menu development, recipe creation, and pastry preparation, to ensure exceptional quality and presentation of desserts and baked goods. Work Experience:
1-2 years of experience in the relevant field
Education & Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree/ High School / Secondary
Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative and creative pastry menus that complement the overall culinary concept and style of the restaurant.
- Create and execute recipes for a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods, ensuring consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation.
- Lead and mentor a team of pastry cooks and assistants, providing guidance and training in pastry techniques and standards.
- Manage inventory levels and ordering of pastry ingredients and supplies, maintaining cost control and minimizing waste.
- Oversee pastry production and service during meal periods, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of desserts to guests.
- Monitor pastry quality and presentation, conducting regular tastings and inspections to uphold standards of excellence.
- Collaborate with the executive chef and culinary team to develop seasonal menus, special event menus, and themed promotions.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, handling, and hygiene practices in the pastry kitchen.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and ingredients in pastry and dessert preparation.
Requirements:
- Culinary degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized culinary school or institution.
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or hotel environment.
- Strong passion for pastry and baking, with a creative flair and attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have eligibility to work in Malta.
