Job Description:
The City of Vancouver is seeking a dedicated and skilled Municipal Planner to join our dynamic team. As a Municipal Planner, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our city through urban planning, land use development, and community engagement initiatives. You will work on a variety of projects aimed at creating sustainable, vibrant, and inclusive neighborhoods while balancing the needs of residents, businesses, and the environment.

Education & Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree/ High School / Secondary
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with community stakeholders, residents, and businesses to gather input and feedback on development proposals, zoning changes, and land use policies.
- Land Use Planning: Assess development applications, conduct land use reviews, and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws and zoning regulations.
- Policy Development: Participate in the creation and implementation of land use policies, development guidelines, and community plans to support the city’s long-term vision.
- Environmental Sustainability: Promote sustainable development practices and initiatives that prioritize environmental conservation, green infrastructure, and climate resilience.
- Project Management: Manage and coordinate various planning projects, including conducting research, preparing reports, and presenting recommendations to senior management and city council.
- Public Consultation: Organize and facilitate public meetings, workshops, and consultations to involve the community in planning decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Professional certification or eligibility for certification with the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC).
- Strong knowledge of municipal planning principles, land use policies, and zoning regulations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with GIS software and urban planning tools.
